Singer-actress Nikki Gil confirmed on The Buzz yesterday (March 24) that she and international singer Billy Crawford have been together for quite some time already, and explained that she chose not to divulge it earlier because she had uncertainties. “It’s been a while,” Nikki began, referring to her romantic relationship with Billy. “We couldn’t admit it at first because I wasn’t sure nung umpisa if it’s going to last. Siyempre I didn’t know him that well and I waited so long to find the relationship for me and I sort of just jumped into this because baka nga pag-ibig. Kaya hindi ko siya masabi at first.”
After admitting that they are an item, Nikki revealed that she and Billy already have talks about settling down, but was quick to add that it is not happening anytime soon because both of them still have their respective careers to consider. “Well he’s 27 (years old) and he’s not getting any younger,” she said. “And ako naman I’m the type of girl na umpisa pa lang naman ‘yun na ‘yung goal ko. I’m not the type (who would) experiment like date around, I’m not like that. I wanted my first boyfriend to be my last one so I guess that says something about my perspective about marriage. Of course we talk about it but siyempre nothing’s final so I guess it just proves that it’s something serious.”
Billy consistently declared in his previous interviews that Nikki is a very big factor why he finds it hard to leave the country and fly abroad in favor of his international career. Nikki corrected that statement saying that she is just one of the reasons and not the sole basis for her boyfriend’s decision to stay longer in the Philippines. “It’s nice to know he says ayaw niyang umalis because of me. But I’m sure dahil din ‘yan sa iba niyang obligasyon,” Nikki said. “Even before we met naman he had plans naman of making the Philippines his home-base. It doesn’t mean that he will be staying here for good but he’ll gonna be flying in another country (for his career abroad). But just as long as he doesn’t leave what he loves doing and what he has already established (we’re fine),”
The Fil-American pop singer also announced before that he wanted Nikki to be the girl he would like to grow old with. Nikki said that she that she has the same sentiments. And although there is no assurance that they will end up together, she is still happy that she took her chance to be with Billy. “Of course I hope he’s the one as well,” she pointed out. “Because I’ve waited for so long, but of course, there’s no formula when it comes to love. So whether or not this works, I’m glad I’ve tried it and I’m glad I jumped into it and I’m definitely enjoying the friendship that we share right now so it would be nice if he were the one I spend the rest of my life with.”
